Women's Choir Sonata

For young women up to 50 years

Women's choir Sonata consists of members of various nationalities. The choir sings in polyphony and has a varied classical repertoire in various languages from English, French and Spanish to Hebrew.

The choir rehearses once every two weeks on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm with a minimum of 25 rehearsals per year.

The musical direction lies with conductor Esther Zaad.

Conductor

Esther Zaad studied piano and choral conducting at the conservatory of Maastricht. Esther leads several choirs: Thorensis Women's Choir, Quint Women's Choir, Vocal Group Fusion and Sonata Women's Choir. In 2016, Esther was elected conductor of the year at the Dutch Korenfestival.

Our choir

Women's choir Sonata was founded in 2017 by conductor Nadia Loenders and Women's Vocal Ensemble Sirena. Initially the choir was called 'Jong Sirena'. In 2018 the name 'Women's Choir Sonata' was adopted. Sonata refers to the word 'sonere'. It means 'to sound' in Latin. Since 2020, the choir has been under the musical direction of Esther Zaad. The ambition is to make beautiful sound together. Are you a young woman up to 50 years old and are you interested? There is room for new members. You are most welcome.
